So Much Rain

I have never seen rain like we had in February. Two separate rainfalls, Feb 6-7 and Feb 19-24, produced almost 20″ here at the farm. The water damage to our property is considerable.

Our pond is a catch basin for the water that runs off the mountain. The drain pipe could not empty it fast enough. It overflowed the berm for days, flooding our creek and completely washing out our driveway. The water overflow and lack of culvert in the easement left our driveway with two trenches, 18″ wide x 12″ deep, about 6-8″ apart. A deep washboard that rendered the driveway completely unusable.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

We needed help. It took lots of prayer, several phone calls and a trip to the county road commission office but last month the road crew installed a new culvert under our driveway and resurfaced the top.

This was flooding repair phase 1. While J chatted up the Commissioner, he learned that the pond drainage tile wasn’t positioned low enough to drain the water runoff properly.

Hello flooding repair phase 2. Stay tuned…
